Q1.

What is Juzt-Guard™?..
A1. Juzt-Guard™ is a powerful file encryption utility to protect your important and confidential data from being spied on, stolen or tampered with.

Q2. What does Juzt-Guard™ do?
A2. Juzt-Guard™ encrypts your data files so that other people or unauthorized persons cannot read or view them. Even if these files are copied/moved out of your computer, they are still not readable. Thus, no information can be extracted or modified.

Q3. Who needs Juzt-Guard™?
A3. Juzt-Guard™ is suitable for the following individuals, companies and organizations:
1) MIS / Network Manager / Information Management Personnel
2) Financial Personnel
3) Attorneys, Legal Experts and Legal Consultants
4) Government Agencies
5) Top Level Management
6) System Integration Companies
7) Academic Organizations
8) Notebook Users
9) Personal, SOHO's Planned Data, Customer Information
10) Laboratories, R&D Facilities
11) Private Enterprises

Q4. Is Juzt-Guard™ easy to use?
A4. Yes. It is very simple to use. You can invoke Juzt-Guard™ through three simple methods:
a) Select the files/directories you wish to encrypt/decrypt and click on the right button of the mouse.
b) Double click on the files you have selected. On
c) Simply "Drag and Drop" the files you wish to encrypt/decrypt.

Q5. What is ENCRYPTION?
A5. Encryption is a method of hiding data by changing them into codes which looks like garbled data to the average person. To make the encrypted data readable, a reverse process called DECRYPTION is performed where the codes are translated back into the original data. Encryption is widely used in the military, secret service and government agencies where highly sensitive and confidential information is concerned.

Q6. How safe is Juzt-Guard™'s encryption?
A6. Juzt-Guard™'s encryption is based on DES (Data Encryption Standard) and provides 3 levels of security - "Normal", "Confidential" and "Strictly Confidential". The highest level "Strictly Confidential", provides the highest security.

Q7. Is the password protection in Juzt-Guard™ secure?
A7. Yes. Juzt-Guard™ emphasizes on security.

Q8. What makes Juzt-Guard™ better than other encryption software?
A8. Juzt-Guard™ offers a Single Machine for Multiple Users capability. The Administrator can assign each user an individual File Locker on the same computer. Other functions it provides are Mask Encryption, Executable Decryption and System Log.

Q9. What is "Executable Decryption"?
A9. Executable Decryption converts your encrypted file into an executable program. To reproduce the original data file, you have to run this executable program and you will be prompted for a password.

Q10. How is this "Executable Decryption" feature useful to me?
A10. It is useful when you send encrypted files to people who do not have Juzt-Guard™. All they need to do is execute the file and enter the password (which you must provide to them).

Q11. What is "Mask Encryption"?
A11. Mask Encryption encrypts your data as a picture file (*.BMP). You must select a picture file (*.BMP) for the encryption "mask".

Q12. What does the "Mask Encryption" feature do?
A12. Since your encrypted file becomes a picture file (*.BMP), it becomes less obvious than your encrypted files (*.SPP, *.TPP) or other data files (such as *.TXT, *.DOC, *.XLS, etc). Even if someone opens this file, he/she will only see a picture and will not realize that it is an encrypted file.

Q13. What is "System Log"?
A13. System Log records Juzt-Guard™ events such as login, encryption, decryption, logout, etc.

Q14. Why is the "System Log" useful?
A14. It allows you to keep track of encryption/decryption processes, logins and encrypted file access. In this way, you will be able to know if anyone has tried to access your encrypted file(s).

Q15. What if someone tries to copy Juzt-Guard™ from my computer to another?
A15. The Juzt-Guard™ program cannot be copied from your computer and installed on another computer. This is because Juzt-Guard™ requires an anti-piracy device ("dongle") in order to work.

Q16. Can other encryption software decrypt files which are encrypted by Juzt-Guard™?
A16. No.

Q17. Can this encryption be cracked? Especially by another Juzt-Guard™ user?
A17. No. The encryption process is dependent on the user name and password. Thus, other users will not be able to decrypt your files.

Q18. What happens if I forgot the password?
A18. Use the "Emergency Disk" to recover and reset your password to "0000".

Q19. What is a "emergency disk"?
A19. The "Emergency Disk" is created with Juzt-Guard™ (in the menu: System"=>"Create Emergency Disk"). This disk is used to reset your password in case you forget it. Keep the "Emergency Disk" in a safe and secure place. Should you lose your key during the reinstallation of your operating system or during the changing of your system environment, the "Emergency Disk" is the only way to recover and decrypt your encrypted files Note : The "Emergency Disk" will be different with each installation. Therefore, please ensure the diskettes are labeled properly and do not to mix them up when you reinstall Juzt-Guard™.

Q20. What are the differences between "File Encryption" and "Transmission Encryption"?
A20. "File Encryption" encrypts and protects files in your local computer. Others cannot access the encrypted files even though it has been copied to another computer. "Transmission Encryption" is used to protect files when you need to send a secure file via e-mail. You can use the Transmit Password functions to encrypt and send files to other Juzt-Guard™ users. However, you must remember to provide them with the Transmit Password you used to encrypt the files.

Q21. I would like to transmit an encrypted file to my friend who does not have Juzt-Guard™. What should I do?
A21. You can use the "Transmission Encryption" function and choose "Executable Decryption". The file will be encrypted and then converted into an executable file. To decrypt an Executable Decryption file, simply run the executable and enter the password. (An Executable Decryption file will be larger than the original file by 800KB in size and you must provide the "Transmit Password" to the recipient of your file.)

Q22. How to decrypt the previously encrypted files after you have reinstalled Juzt-Guard™?
A22. Whenever you need to reinstall Juzt-Guard™, select the option "Keep the old Key ". This option will allow you to keep the previous password to decrypt your previously encrypted files.

Q23. I have reformatted my HDD. How can I decrypt previously encrypted files after reinstalling Juzt-Guard™?
A23. After formatting your hard disk, all Juzt-Guard™'s information will be erased. In this case, the installation of Juzt-Guard™ is considered as the first time installation on the computer. Therefore, there will not be any window to prompt you with the "Keep the old key" option. To decrypt previously encrypted files, follow these procedures:
1) Get the "Emergency Disk" which was created before you formatted the hard disk. This disk name as Disk A.
2) Reinstall Juzt-Guard™ into the new formatted computer.
3) In the System Administrator's setup, enter any user name. The user name must be different from the Administrator's name in the previous installation.
4) Please prepare another blank disk for creating a new "Emergency Disk". This disk name as Disk B.
5) After the installation is completed, log into Juzt-Guard™, choose "User Administration" from the "System" menu. Place Disk A into floppy drive, click the "Import" button, then choose the user information file (Disk A) and click "Open" to import.
6) "Logout" from Juzt-Guard™, and "Login" again.
7) At the Login prompt, you can use any of the users' name and password from the previous installation.
8) Follow through the instructions and create a new Emergency Disk.
9) After logging into Juzt-Guard™, you can start decrypting the previous encrypted files.

Q24. I am not able to encrypt files with extensions such as "sys" and "exe"? Why is this so?
A24. In order to maintain the integrity of your operating system, you are not allowed to encrypt the following files : read-only files, system files, hidden files, encrypted files, and files with extensions such as "bat", "bin", "cfg", "com", "dll", "dos", "drv", "exe", "fon", "fot", "grp", "ico", "ini", "ovl", "pif", "swp", "sys", "ttf", "vbx", and "386". These are System or Executable Files.

Q25. I want to encrypt an executable file (*.EXE). How can I do it?
A25. Juzt-Guard™ does not allow you to encrypt these types of files. You must first convert the executable file into a different file type. One way of doing this is to compress the executable file into a ZIP file using a compression utility such as WinZip or PowerArchiver. Then encrypt the ZIP file. That's all! To use the file, decrypt the encrypted file back into a ZIP file and then decompress the ZIP file.
